I think that a pencil can draw 4km of a line because if the average letter is 3cm long and the average word is about 7 letters long and an average pencil can write about 1000 words 4 km is my estimate

Hi Andy,

These are the my answers to the questions:

a. I think the answer is 11 sevens. I know that in every ten there is one seven except in the seventh ten where there are two. I also wrote down all of the numbers, 1 to 100 and I counted 11 sevens.

b. I thought about how long a normal lead pencil lasts. A pencil can last a long time.

I broke my pencil down into parts and drew lines with it until it got to where I marked. Then I measured how long the line I drew was and multiplied it by what fraction of the pencil it was. The answer I got was 1690 km.

For question A, I did 100 divided by 7 and my answer was 12 and six remainder.

For Question B I guess about 3/4 of a kilometers.

I think a led pencil draws about 12,000 km. because a led pencil wears off slowly and I asked my mom and she said that It could be from here in hk to new york and that 12,000 km is the distance from hk to new york.

7*14=98 and that's the highest you can get until you go over 100.
