What a week! 14/05/2011
Whew, what a busy but wonderful week we have all had. Andy and Mei welcomed Vincent to the world, we prepared for the Exhibition, we presented the Exhibition and then we packed it all away. It has been a hugely successful week of students sharing their learning with the whole school community. Well done Grade 5's - you should be very proud of yourselves. We had visitors online from a range of different schools, online visitors from Japan and India, K3 students through to Grade 11 students, prospective parents, teachers and of course Grade 5 parents. Thankyou so much for all of the support you have offered over the last 8 weeks and for coming to see all of the hard work that has been done. We will be reflecting on the Exhibition next week and moving onto our new Space Unit. You can check out reflections and peer comments here: http://hkaexhibition2011.weebly.com/ Next week we are joining the Grade Four classes in a Hunger Banquet. On Wednesday, May 18, students will participate in the Oxfam Hunger Banquet that demonstrates inequalities in distribution of resources. Students are asked to please bring a $40 donation for Oxfam before Wednesday. Please make sure you read all of the required reading for Puberty Blues on Monday. Also please return MS Language Choice forms on Monday as well. Have a restful weekend! Next week will be a more regular week with more frequent blog updates. Kind regards, Stacey The Final Push 06/05/2011

Exhibition this week 14/04/2011
It has been a couple of days since my last post and the Exhibition has moved into top gear. The students are now using their math time to look at feedback from their questionnaires such at these from the Ocean group. We have had many discussions about action and even been presented models of water bottles, t-shirts and other action items by the different groups. One group is organising a beach clean up at Shek-O this Sunday at 3:00. Come along and support them if you have time. Today we had a group at Ocean Park finding our about recycling there and another group is going to the zoological gardens tomorrow to find out about how they can encourage birds to live around our school environment. Many thanks to the parents who are supporting the students with the ideas and endeavors, we couldn't do it without your guidance and support! Action, action, action 08/04/2011
The Exhibition stepped up a few gears today as we asked the students to commit to their action. We had a discussion with all of the groups and are happy with the way they are progressing towards some meaningful action. We should now see some of that beginning to happen and there may have some strange requests at home as students ask with help to take action. If this happens we need to record the action and take lots of photos so we can see how it progresses. Here is a little treat from earlier in the week. The students were practicing a piece they may be sharing at the Art showcase later in the year. Poem In Your Pocket 23/03/2011
