Newspapers
Today you will all be working on your newspaper articles and formatting the different issues.  Remember that your newspaper should be full, there should be no empty space. Ask a partner to look at your newspaper to see if it is formatted correctly. Add photos in the empty spaces.

You can choose a new article to write from here. If you can think of a new article that you may want to write but is not on the list you can add it to  the bottom of the list. If your first article is not finished you must make that a priority so that it gets into one of the first issues of the newspaper.

VoiceThreads
Well done to those of you who have commented on the goals and the homework VoiceThreads. If you have not done this yet, do it first thing this morning before working on your newspaper article or formatting.

I think we need change the name of the VoiceThread parents identity. Could you make sure it is called 'yourname' parents.... for example mine would be called... Andy parents.

Once you have read this blog post click on the comment, add your name and write, 'I have read this mornings blog post.'

Class Meeting

Today we had our first class meeting run by the students. Well done to Roberto for coordinating the agenda, running the discussion and Andy for taking notes. You can find what happened in the notes on the class meeting page.



6 Traits of Writing

We begun a wider discussion about the 6 Traits of writing, Ideas and Content, Organisation, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency and Conventions. These traits form the backbone of the class writing program and the students are busy thinking about their writing voice.

The results are in for the name of our class newspaper. After two surveys and a lot of ideas Dynamite News was selected as the title of the grade 5AB newspaper. Students are now invited to submit ideas for the logo for the newspaper. All entries need to be submitted by next Thursday before the class meeting.

Class Newspaper
Students will be writing and publishing their own newspaper for the 5AB community. Today we brainstormed possible names for the newspaper. You can vote for your top three choices by clicking on the link below.

Today we had a visit from Emily's hamsters who were going on a play date with some other hamsters in 5JN. Emily shared her knowledge about the hamsters and students had a chance to get to know them better.
